About

R.E. (Rachel) Wolfe is a multi-award-winning filmmaker based in London, United Kingdom. At an early age she found joy in creative performance, beginning ballet at age two and landing a professional singing role in a West End Theatre production of Peter Pan at the age of nine.

She continued her pursuit of music and the performing arts throughout her childhood and teenage years by way of theatre workshops, learning instruments, songwriting and music competitions, before recognising that her creative abilities were put to best use when they flowed through a pen.

She excelled at writing and completed a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature in 2007, before achieving a Master’s Degree in applied psychology ‘Psychoanalytic Studies’ from Goldsmiths College, University of London under course director Jungian analyst, writer and filmmaker Christopher Hauke (Jung and Film-2001). His interest in the unconscious processes involved in filmmaking and his academic contribution to the subject ignited the pursuit of Wolfe’s own filmmaking journey.

In 2016 Wolfe undertook a short course in cinematography and production sound in Soho London, after which she joined forces with producer Christopher Jolley (Borley Rectory, The Awakening) to produce her first short action thriller Eden Grey (dir. Tyrone Samuels) which made its 2018 debut at the fourth annual Artemis Women In Action film festival in Los Angeles, California.

In 2019, Wolfe completed the Producer’s Foundation Course at Raindance Film School, further developing her knowledge of film production with a view to progressing into feature-length projects.

Wolfe credits fellow filmmaker and mentor Cyrus Trafford for encouraging her to try her hand at directing, and cites Ana Lily Amirpour, Ruben Ostlund, Nia DaCosta and Guy Nattiv among visual storytellers who continue to inspire her own work.
